As part of my Cultural Heritage Management course at the University of York, we are conducting a social media campaign/experiment, asking contributors to share images with the hashtag #curatemylife. The goal is to connect the public with a sense of heritage and to see how their lives contribute to our understanding of culture.
Read more about our assignment on Medium.com. You may even see some of your contributions!
Well, we in the classic film blogging community have our own sense of heritage and culture, don’t we? I couldn’t resist this opportunity to classic-filmify this project as a flash blogathon!
Rules of Participation
You don’t need a blog to participate, but if you would like to curate your images in a blog post, that will also qualify. If you do have a blog, please spread the word by posting the banner on your site. Thank you!
Register your interest in the comments below and I will start a blogroll of participants.
Below is a list of criteria for posts to Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
Tag each post with #CurateMyLife @ @ and the number of the criterion it meets. Also feel free to incorporate other hashtags to share with the classic movie community (#LetsMovie, #TCMParty, #31DaysofOscar, etc.)
I will keep a score card of submissions below. Depending on the level of participation, the winner will either be the first to complete all of them or the one to complete the most of them. But this isn’t really about the competition, it’s more about sharing.
Our project has been extended until Tuesday, 1 March, so I will be accepting contributions until Monday, 29 February at Midnight.
Please publish all posts by midnight Monday. Our group will be presenting in class Tuesday morning (GMT) and we’d love to have as much data as possible.
Feel free to carry on #CurateMyLife after the deadline. Let’s see if we can make this a trending topic!
Since I’m not in the US at the moment, there won’t be any actual prizes for this one – just bragging rights. Sorry folks. I will make the winner a fancy badge to post on his/her blog.
Again, it’s more about sharing our love of film with each other than it is about winning.
This is sort of like a scavenger hunt. Even if you don’t have all of these, it will be fun to see how much our love of classic film seeps into all aspects of our lives!
